Celebrated family birthday. Notable loot: a nice The Last Chance T-shirt, a duct-tape hat, La Vuelta al Mundo by Kabah, American Gods (nicer than the one I picked up on Friday off reuse, fwiw), tie-die socks, a shirtjacket I can wear Jacking, and I'm sure something I'm not thinking of.
Saw Epsode III. I'll spare you the rant I could write ad infinitum; we actually had an interesting Alphaish critique session at Indian afterwards. One of those where critiquer puma says basically, I know this is your story, but you might want to try totally changing this, take out all these scenes, and focus on this idea that you mentioned in half a sentence on page four instead; I think it'll get your point across better. And, what are the motivations of the flower? By capusle nonspoiler view is: it had some nice scenes, but no plot, only retroforeshadowing, and ineffective rising action because of this. (If you told the whole plot of the movie to someone who hadn't seen it but saw the other 5, would you tell them anything that they don't already know that's not against continuity? Not much.) This isn't as short as I hoped, but it has a Bobby ref, so that's ok.
I feel psyched to write something really soon. I might start with a shortshort that's been floating around in my head for a while. Internal title Autobiograpies I; working title "A Bird and a Horse," which will most certainly get changed because it sucks. Coming soon to a friendslocked post near you.
Will see Hitchhikers tomorrow. The very concept of a "So Long and Thanks For All the Fish" song is brilliant.
Last, but not least, my family got a new computer. It took us a while to agree on a name, but it was worth it: Meet Ekky-ekky-ekky-ekky-z'Bang, zoom-Boing, z'nourrrwringmm. Call her Ni for short.
